Biography: 

Dr. Zimmerman is an adjunct faculty member at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health, where she supervises student physicians in the Naturopathic Medicine Department. Dr. Zimmerman also teaches courses in physical examination, counseling, and botanical medicine. 

Teaching/Healing Philosophy:

Dr. Zimmerman's primary clinical goal is to empower her patients in their health journey. She views her role as a partnership in her patient's healthcare, helping to identify root causes of illness and working together to create plans for actualizing lasting healing and change. She has a strong passion for the mind-body connection as well as an individual's connection to their environment, and this framework helps to shape her clinical approach. 

Clinical Interests:

Dr. Zimmerman's clinical interests include autoimmune disease, gastroenterology with a special interest in IBD, mental health, environmental medicine, mindbody medicine and biofeedback. Dr. Zimmerman has specialized training in craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, and botanical medicine.

Dr. Zimmerman has been a practicing clinical herbalist since 2008, seeing clients and also teaching at various herbal education programs. She worked as a field botanist for many years, and eventually formed her own landscaping business that specialized in edible, medicinal and native plants. She has been teaching sustainable livelihood, permaculture, herbalism, and botany for most of her professional life.
