Biography: 

Dr. Orr supervises naturopathic medicine student clinicians in a Team Care setting, currently on the IV shift. He also is adjunct faculty at Bastyr University where he teaches basic science classes. Dr. Orr has been specializing in the treatment of autoimmune and allergic disease for over 10 years.

Clinical Interests:

Dr. Orr has a special interest in helping patients who have autoimmune and allergic diseases. He has a personal connection with Multiple Sclerosis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease in particular, which have affected his friends and family members. The field of Evolutionary Medicine has a significant bearing on how Dr. Orr approaches his patients, with a particular emphasis on addressing evolutionary mismatch with the modern environment.

Healing Philosophy:

Dr. Orr takes an engineer’s approach to medicine. His medical philosophy is centered on understanding health and disease processes at the molecular level. This perspective emphasizes the use of biochemistry to guide medical decisions and select therapies based upon the patient’s individual needs.

Past Experience:

Dr. Orr has been working with patients with autoimmune and allergic disease for over 10 years. This work has occurred in a variety of clinical settings that include rural care clinics in tribal villages in Africa, Australia, and Alaska, as well as prominent hospitals that are at the forefront of modern medicine. Dr. Orr also has experience as an educator in both academic and non-academic settings, and he draws upon this experience to motivate patients to learn about their health and make informed decisions.
