Satisfied patients again have shared that they have a positive experience when visiting Bastyr Center for Natural Health, according to a regional survey by the Washington Health Alliance.
In the survey “Your Voice Matters: Patient Experience with Primary Care Providers in the Puget Sound Region,” Bastyr Center was one of only five medical groups out of 46 in the Puget Sound to rate statistically above its collective peers in all four “Patient Experience” categories:
“We are extremely pleased to see that the results of the second survey reaffirm both our commitment to excellent health care and our attention to the human side of illness,” says Bastyr Center Chief Medical Officer Jamey Wallace, ND.
In the alliance’s first survey of patient satisfaction, published in 2012, Bastyr Center also was consistently rated better than its collective peers in all four of the patient experience categories.
“Bastyr’s training programs focus on excellent medical are and listening to our patients, which takes time and attention,” Dr. Wallace says. “We are very grateful that the survey demonstrates that our patients appreciate that approach."
Part of what makes Bastyr Center so successful is its unique Team Care model, where a licensed provider and two to three advanced student clinicians work together to provide patients with highly individualized treatments and generous practitioner time.
“What I experienced in the past focused on determining my symptoms and drug recommendations based on diagnostic labels,” said Bastyr Center patient Jessye, “but at Bastyr they sought to know and care for me as a whole person.”
About 36,000 people in the Puget Sound responded to this survey between September and December 2013, reporting their experiences with their health care provider and the provider’s office staff between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.
